Post to social media from Paperclip
Paperclip runs teams of AI agents — Claude Code, Codex and others — from one self-hosted dashboard. Connect iHatePosting once and the Claude Code and Codex agents you allow can write, check and schedule posts as part of their work.
Set it up
1. Create an iHatePosting API key
Sign in, open Settings → Developers and create a key. It starts with pk_live_ and is shown in full only once, so copy it before you leave the page.
2. Add iHatePosting to Paperclip
Paste this URL as the MCP server URL in Paperclip: Connectors → Connect your own tool → Connect → Connect your own MCP server, then Continue. Answer both access questions and press Save and continue. Under Advanced authentication choose Key or token, and paste only your key into App key — Paperclip adds Bearer itself — then press Check link. Every tool starts switched on, so open the connection's Permissions tab and set delete_post to Ask first or Off.

Tell Paperclip what you want to say and where. It saves a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for the post to go out now or at a set time.
What is different about Paperclip
- Paperclip's connector list ends with a Connect your own tool card: press its Connect button, then choose Connect your own MCP server. The address /<your-company-prefix>/apps/byo opens the same form.
- The access step asks two questions — which people can use the credential, and which agents can use the connection. The company-wide answers (Any human in the company, Any agent) need a company owner, admin or connection manager; anyone else picks Just me and Just agents I pick. With Just me, agents use your key only on runs you are responsible for.
- Do not tell Paperclip the server needs no key. iHatePosting lists its tools without one, so that connection would look fine and then fail every call.
- In App key, paste the key alone — Paperclip puts Bearer in front of it. If you use Custom headers instead, the value is sent exactly as typed, so write Bearer, a space and the key.
- Setup ends with every tool switched on. Open the connection's Permissions tab and choose what agents may do: allow or ask first for create_post, update_post, reschedule_post, retry_post and upload_media, and set delete_post to Ask first or Off.
- Paperclip's server makes the calls and hands its agents a gateway address, so the Paperclip host itself needs to reach ihateposting.com over HTTPS.
Limits. Paperclip is free, open source (MIT) and self-hosted, and needs Node.js 24.11 or later. These steps match Paperclip v2026.916.0 or newer, where Connectors is always on. Versions from v2026.720.0 can also connect a URL with a key, but only after turning on Apps under Settings → Instance settings → Experimental, and their screens differ. Paperclip hands a connector's tools to agents on its Claude Code and Codex adapters; agents on its other adapters do not get them.

Nothing goes out unless you say so
Every post Paperclip writes is saved as a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for it to be published now or at a set time. Publishing, rescheduling, retrying and deleting are marked as actions that change things, so clients that honour those markings ask you before they run them. Deleting a post in iHatePosting never removes one that is already live on a network.

Should I tell Paperclip that iHatePosting needs no key?
No. iHatePosting lists its tools without a key, so that connection would look fine and then fail every call. Paste your key in App key.
Do I type Bearer before the key?
Not in App key, where Paperclip adds Bearer itself. In Custom headers the value is sent exactly as typed, so write Bearer, a space and the key.
Which Paperclip agents can post?

Can I stop agents deleting posts?
