Set it up

1. 1. Create an iHatePosting API key

   Sign in, open Settings → Developers and create a key. It starts with pk_live_ and is shown in full only once, so copy it before you leave the page.

2. 2. Add iHatePosting to Claude Cowork

   In Claude on the web or in the desktop app, open Customize, then Connectors, press + and choose Add custom connector. Name it iHatePosting, paste the URL below with YOUR_API_KEY replaced by your key, choose No sign-in if it asks, and press Add. Then switch it on from the + menu, under Connectors, inside a Cowork task — or in any conversation, if your message box no longer shows Chat and Cowork.

3. 3. Ask it to post

   Tell Claude Cowork what you want to say and where. It saves a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for the post to go out now or at a set time.

What is different about Claude Cowork

• Cowork has no connector settings of its own. Add iHatePosting under Customize, then Connectors, and switch it on inside a task from the + menu. If you already added it for Claude chats, it is already there.
• Some organisations see a Request headers section in the Add custom connector dialog. Where it appears, paste the plain https://ihateposting.com/mcp as the URL, choose No sign-in, and add a header named authorization whose value is Bearer, a space and your key — the key then stays out of the URL. Claude sends the value exactly as typed, so the word Bearer is needed. On Team and Enterprise the Owner enters the header once, so every member posts with that one key.
• A connector's sign-in settings cannot be edited once it is saved. To change the key, remove the connector and add it again.
• Cowork runs its tasks in the cloud by default, and servers from the desktop app's claude_desktop_config.json are not available to it — the connector is the route to use.
• In Manual mode, the default, Cowork asks before running tools that change things, such as creating or publishing a post, unless you set them to Always allow. In Auto or Skip mode Claude may run them without asking, so set a tool to Blocked under Customize, then Connectors, if it must never run. On Team and Enterprise plans, Always allow stays off until an admin turns it on.

Limits. Cowork needs a paid plan: Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. It works in the desktop app on macOS, Windows and Linux (beta), and is in beta on the web and on mobile — on Enterprise only where an admin has turned it on. On Team and Enterprise only an Owner can add a custom connector, and a key inside its URL is shared by every member. Since 16 September 2026 Anthropic has been merging Cowork and chat into one Claude, rolling out to Pro and Max over several weeks; once your account has it, any conversation can use the connector.

Nothing goes out unless you say so

Every post Claude Cowork writes is saved as a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for it to be published now or at a set time. Publishing, rescheduling, retrying and deleting are marked as actions that change things, so clients that honour those markings ask you before they run them. Deleting a post in iHatePosting never removes one that is already live on a network.
