Post to social media from Perplexity Computer
Perplexity Computer is Perplexity's agent for tasks that take many steps. Once iHatePosting is added as a custom connector, it can turn research into posts, check them against each network's rules and schedule them — all in the same task.
Set it up
1. Create an iHatePosting API key
Sign in, open Settings → Developers and create a key. It starts with pk_live_ and is shown in full only once, so copy it before you leave the page.
2. Add iHatePosting to Perplexity Computer
Paste this URL as the MCP server URL in Perplexity → Account settings → Connectors → + Custom connector → Add MCP connector. If the form shows Remote and Local tabs, stay on Remote. Give it a name, such as iHatePosting. Open Advanced, set Authentication to API Key (it starts on OAuth) and paste your key, and leave Transport on Streamable HTTP. Tick the box that says you understand the risks, press Add, then click the connector's card to turn it on.

What is different about Perplexity Computer
- Add it once under Account settings, then Connectors. Custom connectors work in Perplexity conversations and in Computer.
- Choose API Key as the authentication and paste your key there — the URL carries nothing secret. Perplexity keeps the key on its side, so there is no environment variable to set.
- Pick Streamable HTTP as the transport. iHatePosting does not serve the older SSE transport, so an SSE connector never connects.
- Adding the connector does not test the key, because iHatePosting lists its tools to anyone who asks. If a tool later answers iHatePosting API 401, the key is wrong or has been replaced — create a new one in Settings → Developers and give Perplexity that.
- Computer normally works in Perplexity's cloud, so it cannot start a server on your own computer; the hosted connector is the way in. Some Perplexity desktop setups can run MCP servers on your own machine (the Mac app, or Portable Computer in Local mode under Settings → MCP servers), but cloud Computer never uses those, so add the connector either way. Computer also accepts uploaded skill files, but iHatePosting's skill logs our command-line tool in with your raw key, and Perplexity never hands raw keys to Computer's sandbox — use the connector instead.
Limits. Custom connectors need a paid plan — Pro, Max or Enterprise — and Computer uses credits. On Enterprise, members can add their own connectors only once an admin allows it. The server address must use HTTPS.

Nothing goes out unless you say so
Every post Perplexity Computer writes is saved as a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for it to be published now or at a set time. Publishing, rescheduling, retrying and deleting are marked as actions that change things, so clients that honour those markings ask you before they run them. Deleting a post in iHatePosting never removes one that is already live on a network.
