Grok Bot + iHatePosting

Post to social media from Grok Bot

Connect Grok Bot to iHatePosting and ask it to write, schedule and publish posts to 15 social networks. Your Bot installs the iHatePosting command-line tool on its own cloud computer, which saves drafts unless you add --now, so you approve what goes live. Setup is included in the free 90-day trial.

Ask your Grok Bot to install the iHatePosting CLI and it can draft, schedule and publish posts to 15 networks from its own cloud computer. Free 90-day trial.

Nothing is published unless you ask for it in that message.

Autonomous agentsxAI

Grok Bot is xAI and Cursor's always-on agent: you create named Bots, give each a job, and each works on its own cloud computer with a terminal. Ask a Bot to install the iHatePosting command-line tool and it can draft, schedule and publish posts to 15 networks from there.

How do I connect iHatePosting to Grok Bot?

It takes about a minute. The Bot installs one small command-line tool, and the only thing you carry between the two apps is a key you can revoke whenever you like.

  1. 1Step 1

    Create an iHatePosting API key

Sign in, open Settings → Developers and create a key. It starts with pk_live_, and the same page can show it again whenever you need it.

  2. 2Step 2

    Add iHatePosting to Grok Bot

Paste this into a chat with your Bot, and give it your key only in its secret credential prompt, never in the chat. The Bot installs the iHatePosting CLI on its own cloud computer. We have not been able to run this inside Grok Bot yet.

    Grok Bot — connector
Set up iHatePosting so you can draft, schedule and publish my social media posts.
    - Install its command-line tool on your cloud computer: npm install -g ihateposting
    - Store my iHatePosting API key as a Bot secret named IHATEPOSTING_API_KEY. Ask me for it in your secure secret prompt, never in this chat.
    - Check it works: run ihateposting whoami, then ihateposting accounts.
    - Posts are saved as drafts unless you add --now. Ask me before you publish anything.
When it works, show me my connected accounts.
  3. 3Step 3

    Ask it to post

Tell Grok Bot what you want to say and where. It saves a draft in iHatePosting unless you ask for the post to go out now or at a set time.

What is different about Grok Bot

Every client reaches the same server, and then behaves like itself. These are the things that are true here and not somewhere else.

iHatePosting is not in Grok Bot's plugin marketplace, so there is no /add-plugin command for it. The message on this page asks the Bot to install the iHatePosting CLI instead, with npm install -g ihateposting.

The Bot reads your key from an environment variable named IHATEPOSTING_API_KEY. Store it as a Bot secret and give it only in the Bot's own secret prompt, never in the chat, where it would stay in the conversation.

The CLI saves a draft unless you add --now, so a Bot that is only told to post will leave drafts for you to review. Tell the Bot to ask you before it publishes anything, or before it uses --now.

Grok Bot is a separate product from the Grok chatbot on X and grok.com, and from Grok Build, xAI's terminal coding agent. This page is for Grok Bot; Grok Build has its own page.

Once it works, a Bot can turn the job into a routine, for example a weekly plan of posts that it drafts and sends you to approve.

Limits. Grok Bot has been in beta since August 2026. We found no Grok Bot page about custom MCP connectors and have not run these steps inside a Bot, so they rely on the Bot's cloud computer having a terminal and a way to store secrets. If your Bot works differently, tell us on the contact page.

Nothing goes out unless you say so

Every post Grok Bot writes is saved as a draft in iHatePosting unless the command adds --now or --at with a time. Ask your Bot to run --check first and to ask you before it publishes anything.

What is the iHatePosting CLI?

The iHatePosting CLI is a small command-line tool that posts to your connected accounts from a terminal, a CI job or an AI agent that has a terminal, such as a Grok Bot on its cloud computer.

How Grok Bot uses it

  • You install it once with npm install -g ihateposting and give the Bot your key as the IHATEPOSTING_API_KEY variable
  • Grok Bot lists your connected accounts and each network's rules
  • It can check a post first with --check, which creates nothing
  • It saves a draft unless the command adds --now, or --at with a time
  • It can only reach the accounts you already connected in iHatePosting

Cost, access and what to do when it breaks

What does it cost?

The connector costs nothing on top of iHatePosting. iHatePosting has one plan: $15/month billed annually, or $19/month billed monthly, with unlimited social accounts. It is free for 90 days, no credit card needed, and everything is included during the trial: unlimited accounts, unlimited posts, every feature.

How is access secured?

Either you sign in to iHatePosting and approve access, or you create an API key in Settings → Developers. That page can show your key again whenever you need it. Whichever route you take, it reaches only the accounts you have already connected, and you can revoke it at any time without touching the accounts themselves.

Something not working?

  • It cannot see any accounts: connect them in iHatePosting first, then ask it to list them again.
  • You regenerated your key and it still fails: Regenerate revokes the old key the moment you press it, and a client that is already running keeps sending the old one until you genuinely restart it.
  • A post failed: open it in iHatePosting — the failure names the network and repeats what that network actually said.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect iHatePosting to Grok Bot?

Paste the message on this page into a chat with your Bot. It installs the iHatePosting CLI on its cloud computer, asks you for your key in its secret prompt, then proves the connection by running whoami and listing your accounts.

Is there an iHatePosting plugin for Grok Bot?

Not yet. iHatePosting is not in the Grok Bot marketplace, so the route here is the command-line tool, which the Bot installs itself.

Can my Bot publish without asking me?

Only if you tell it to. The CLI saves a draft unless the command includes --now, and you can tell the Bot to ask before it publishes anything.

Is Grok Bot the same as Grok?

No. Grok is the chatbot on X and grok.com, and Grok Bot is the always-on agent product with its own cloud computer. Grok Build, xAI's terminal agent, has a separate iHatePosting page.

Is the Grok Bot connector free?

Yes. The connector costs nothing on top of iHatePosting, and iHatePosting is free for 90 days, no credit card needed. After that it is $15/month billed annually, or $19 month-to-month, with unlimited accounts.

Which networks can Grok Bot post to?

Any account you have connected in iHatePosting, across 15 networks: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Tumblr and Google Business Profile.

Can Grok Bot schedule posts for a specific date and time?

Yes. Put the date and time in the prompt — for example "schedule this for Friday at 9:00 AM" — and Grok Bot schedules the post for then. iHatePosting reads the time in your account's timezone, and you can ask Grok Bot to move a scheduled post to a new time.

One connection reaches every network

Connect your accounts in iHatePosting once. From then on Grok Bot can post to any of them, and we publish at the time you set — even after you close the chat.
